German Doughnuts

 

German Doughnut RecipeIngredients:

4 3/4 cup (720g) flour
1 tbsp. Baking powder
1 cup (100 g) sugar
1/2 tbsp vanilla- or 1 pack of vanilla-sugar
1/4 (30 g) butter
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup (180 g) sour cream
1/2 cup (60 g) whipping-cream
Flour for the workspace
1 Liter vegetable oil for frying
Icing sugar for dusting

Instructions:

Add Flour, baking-powder and sugar to a mixing bowl. Cut in butter mixing and slicing until mixture is crumbly. Add egg, sour cream  and whipping-cream, beat with an electric mixer until well combined . Knead mixture shortly with your hands then cover for one hour in a cool place.

Put dough on a floured work space and roll out until dough is about 1/2 inch thick.

Cut out with a biscuit cutter about 2" diameter until you have no more dough to cut out from. Take a smaller cutter (Apple corer works great)  and make another hole in each dough piece. With the leftover dough repeat the process.
Heat oil to about 360F in a tall pot. The oil has the right temperature, when you put the handle of a wooden spoon in the oil and little bubbles come to the surface. According to your pot size, add as many doughnuts as you see fit 4-6 is usually enough. Cook each doughnut about 1-2min until golden brown then turn to other side with 2 wooden spoons and cook another 1-2 min.

Remove from oil and let them dripdry on some paper towels
When a little cooled, dust with Icing-sugar or regular sugar

They are delicious
